  • SWEDISH MASSAGE

One of the most commonly taught and well-known massage techniques, Swedish massage is a vigorous system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation. Five basic strokes, all flowing toward the heart, are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body.

Therapists use a combination of kneading, rolling, vibrational, percussive, and tapping movements, with the application of oil, to reduce friction on the skin.‡

  • THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE

'Therapeutic massage' encompasses several modalities of massage with the goal of obtaining a therapeutic benefit.

In some cases, massage is recommended by a health professional and may be performed as part of a larger treatment plan. Someone in physical therapy for an injury might have regular therapeutic massage to loosen muscles, improve muscle tone, and increase flexibility. Likewise, it can be used to supplement wound care, cancer care, and a variety of other treatments.

As well as having physical benefits, therapeutic massage can also be psychologically beneficial and may be used to promote relaxation as part of a therapeutic program, alleviate severe depression, or to treat other psychological conditions.

  • DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Techniques that utilize deep-tissue/deep-muscle massage are administered to affect the sub-layer of musculature and fascia. The muscles must be relaxed in order to effectively perform deep-tissue massage, otherwise tight surface muscles prevent the practitioner from reaching deeper musculature.

It helps with chronic muscular pain and injury rehabilitation and reduces inflammation-related pain caused by arthritis and tendinitis. It is generally integrated with other massage techniques.‡

  • PRENATAL MASSAGE

Many methods of massage and somatic therapies are both effective and safe prenatally and during labor and postpartum periods of women's pregnancies.

Prenatally, specific techniques can reduce pregnancy discomforts and concerns and enhance the physiological and emotional well-being of both mother and fetus.

Skilled, appropriate touch facilitates labor, shortening labor times and easing pain and anxiety. In the postpartum period, specialized techniques re-balance structure, physiology, and emotions of the new mother and may help her to bond with and care for her infant.

Specialized, advanced training in the anatomy, physiology, complications, precautions, and contraindications is highly recommended, and many practitioners require referrals from physicians prior to therapy.‡

    PRICE

    $40/30 minutes

    $60/60 minutes

    $90/90 minutes

Note: Please consult your physician and/or OB/GYN regarding whether adding hot stones to your prenatal massage is safe and/or recommended.

  • SPORTS MASSAGE

Sports massage is designed to enhance athletic performance and recovery.

Pre-event massage is fast-paced and stimulating and helps to establish blood flow and to warm up muscles.

Post-event massage is administered to calm the nervous system and begin the process of flushing toxins and waste products out of the body. Post-event massage can reduce recovery time, enabling an athlete to resume training much sooner than rest alone would allow.

When an athlete sustains an injury, skillful massage therapy can often speed and improve the quality of healing.‡

  • AROMATHERAPY

The use of essential oils (extracted from herbs, flowers, resin, woods, and roots) in body and skin care treatments is known as aromatherapy. Used as a healing technique for thousands of years by the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans, essential oils aid in relaxation, improve circulation, and help the healing of wounds.

Aromatherapy diffusers are utilized to fill the massage room with the scent of the oils. Specific essential oils are blended by the aromatherapist and added to a carrier oil to be used during the massage. Each oil has its own unique characteristics and benefits.‡

    PRICE

    $5

    (any length of massage)

  • HOT STONES

Hot stones encourage the exchange of blood and lymph and provide soothing heat for deep-tissue work.  Stones are placed in varying positions on the body for energy balancing or may be used by the therapist for specific trigger-point work. Stone therapy requires less effort from the practitioner's own body and delivers healing warmth to the hands, benefiting the therapist, as well as the client.‡

    PRICE

    $15

(add to any length of massage)

Note: Use of hot stones can not be combined with cupping therapy.

  • CUPPING THERAPY

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.

Cupping therapy dates back to ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures. A more modern version of cupping uses a rubber pump instead of fire to create the vacuum inside the cup. Sometimes therapists use silicone cups, which they can move from place to place on your skin for a massage-like effect.†‡

    PRICE

    $10

    (any length of massage)

Note: Use of cupping therapy can not be combined with hot stones.
